Shelby + Josh | The Old Place | Gulf Coast Wedding Photographer
As a Gulf Coast wedding photographer, these gorgeous venues like The Old Place are a dream come true. The dreamy moss covered oaks, the old plantation style houses, and the background of the gulf coast makes everything just one picturesque marvel.
Shelby and Josh's whimsical boho wedding did not disappoint. When I first me with Shelby and Josh, I fell in love. Shelby is such a joy to be around, and she has the most amazing business on etsy - The Stinson Studio - which has custom made macrame table runners, plant hangers, and wall hangings. These are so perfect for your house, wedding, or if you me...your babies nursery! And Josh is just so funny! They are such an amazing pair! I am so glad that over the course of the last year and a half, that we have become friends!
When I asked Shelby about their love story...this is what she said:
"We technically met in the 6th grade, but mutual sparks didn't fly until our Junior year of college. We were both at home for Christmas break when we ran into each other at a friend's tacky Christmas party. I always had a little crush on Josh throughout grade school, so when I saw him walk in wearing the world's most awesome Christmas vest, I had to go say hello. We ended up hanging out the entire night and a week later he asked me to be his data to a friend's engagement party. To no surprise it ended up being THE BEST first date ever. That next semester Josh started a chemical engineering co-op in Tennessee, 2.5 hours from where Mississippi State where I was taking classes. Right away we started alternating turns driving to visit each other on the weekends. The more and more attached we got, the more time we spent on the road, and the more sleep we lost / classes I skipped in order to make mid-week visits. Looking back on that era, I just remember being so giddy when we got to see each other, and always having to tell him to stop being funny because my jaws hurt from laughing so much. 4 years later Josh proposed while we were on vacation in California. We were doing the infamous HWY 1 road trip from San Francisco to L.A. complete with our own convertible rental car. On the third night of the trip we stopped in Monterey and found the most perfect little room at Lovers Point Inn. The inn overlooked Monterey Bay and had gorgeous views of the shoreline and Lovers Point park. Josh asked me to be his wife down by the bay just as the sun was setting, and since I pretty much knew we were soulmates by the end of that first date, I of course said yes. The next morning we called our families and friends to share the big news then drove to Big Sur where we spent 3 days off the grid celebrating our future." #swoon
I can't wait to see where the rest of life takes these two!
